K-12 Program COVID-19 Testing Programs

With the pandemic still affecting everyday life, Precision Genetics has taken its expertise in COVID-19 testing programs for healthcare, employers and universities and has risen to the forefront of COVID-19 testing service options. Our skilled team manages the logistics around each aspect of setting up testing programs, organizing on-site operations, administering tests and providing fast results in 24 hours guaranteed. With the summer upon us, now is the time to ensure you are testing with the premier healthcare technology company for testing services.

Testing options include,

  • Pooled testing – screening of pooled groups or cohorts to understand possible infection.  This reduces the number of collections needed as well as costs around testing.
  • Mass testing – large groups needing to show negative COVID-19 results for sporting events, travel, competitions or for work functions can receive quick and reliable testing and results.
  • Drive-up testing – get same day service by driving up to one of our facilities to receive a quick and efficient test.

We can guarantee same day results for samples arriving prior to 1 PM. After 1 PM, we can guarantee results by noon the next day. Reports will be emailed to your organization through our HIPAA secure portal.

How Summer COVID-19 Testing Works

With our country about to embark on a long-needed break from school and the modified learning classrooms, hundreds of thousands will now be spending weeks in close proximity outside of the controlled school environment.  Outbreaks at large group activities such as summer camps can be swift and damaging. Precision Genetics has the operational excellence to schedule pre-camp or pre-academy and mid-session summer testing drives for campers, school academies, athletic events and staff to satisfy both state requirements for group activities and ensure safety.

OPEN for the Summer

Precision Genetics operations team will organize the testing logistics based on your needs for the on-site testing with the necessary supplies for a seamless collection event.

Samples are shipped and tested at our high-throughput state-of-the-art CLIA laboratory.  Results are returned within 24 hours guaranteed, ensuring that potential outbreaks are quickly contained.

Our trained medical team knows the sensitivity around collecting samples from young children.  We have perfected our gentle “collect and talk” swabbing technique to ensure that children have the most comfortable experience possible.

NEEDS Tailored for Summer

We will ensure that all communication is detailed for quick, efficient and thorough execution with your staff to accommodate your specific needs.

What kind of test do you use?

We are running a real-time PCR test to detect the presence of COVID-19 in your sample.  Nucleic acid extraction from Saliva or NP collection media using the KingFisher Flex Extraction with MagMax™ Viral/Pathogen Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit for viral RNA extraction followed by reverse transcription and real-time PCR using the QuantStudio 12K Flex PCR with TaqPath COVID-19 Combo Kit. Ct analysis to identify the presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) RNA.

What is your turnaround time?

Once we receive the samples in the lab, we will return the results to you in 24-48 hours.  Our average turn around time is 16 hours, however, if your appointment is at an hour when we have received a bulk of samples, the test can take longer than 24-hours to process.  We will have the results to you no longer than 48 hours after the sample is collected.

How is COVID-19 spread?

It is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet). It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus.

The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggests that this virus is spreading more efficiently than influenza, but not as efficiently as measles, which is highly contagious.

What happens if my sample is positive?

A positive result means you have the COVID-19 virus.  You must follow the CDC guidelines for quarantining while infected with the virus.  Any positive sample will be reported to the state Department of Health for tracking and follow up.

What is pooled COVID-19 testing?

A positive result means you have the COVID-19 virus.  You must follow the CDC guidelines for quarantining while infected with the virus.  Any positive sample will be reported to the state Department of Health for tracking and follow up.

How do I pay for this test?

When you register for a test, you will be emailed a credit card authorization form to be filled out and returned to Precision Genetics either via email prior to your test being performed or when you drive up for your test.

How will our I receive the results from the test done at Precision Genetics?

The results will be delivered via encrypted email to the email you provide in the registration form.  If your results are negative, you will simply just receive the email.  If your results are positive, you will be contacted by a physician to review necessary treatment advice.  Precision Genetics is responsible for reporting any positive results to the necessary state Department of Health.

How will the sample be collected?

When you arrive, you will call our collection supervisor to let him/her know you have arrived.  You will stay in your car and the collection specialist will come to your car to collect your sample.

What type of collection device is used?

Precision Genetics has 2 options for collecting the COVID-19 sample for PCR testing:

  1. Nasopharyngeal (NP) Swab – we have received EUA from the FDA for this test.  It is quick and highly accurate and will take no longer than 2 minutes to collect.
  2. Saliva – we have received EUA from the FDA for this test.  It is a sample that is collected by spitting into a vial.  The test can take up to 15 minutes to collect depending on how well you can produce saliva to fill the vial up to the 1mL mark.  The test is highly accurate and less invasive than a NP test.

If my regional hospital does testing, should I go to them?

There are many health systems in the area that can help with drive up testing and quick turn around time.  Please go to a facility that is convenient for your needs.
